Australia Scraps COVID-19 Testing For International Arrivals

By April 19, 2022 No Comments

The return of international travellers has had a huge impact on demand for holiday home rentals across Australia as international tourists push nightly rates and occupancy statistics up.

The Australian Government no longer requires people travelling to Australia to have a COVID-19 test before travel.

All travellers arriving by air into Australia should complete the Digital Passenger Declaration (DPD) unless they are flight crew. The DPD requests details that are considered critical health information.

With the announcement of cruise ships also returning to Australia after a two-year absence, travellers arriving on a cruise vessel must complete a Maritime Travel Declaration (MTD), prior to disembarking the vessel.  Accommodation stays at the port of departure or disembarkation is set to sore.

International travellers must still provide proof of double vaccination and masks remain mandated on international flights though the relaxing of rules means higher returns for property investors looking to maximise the income on their holiday home rentals.
